200 Wrestling Enthusiasts Meet Terry Brands

Despite the difficult circumstances that have recently found their way into all of our lives 200 wrestling enthusiasts, both wrestlers and coaches alike, were treated to a very special clinic by the 2X World & NCAA Champion Terry Brands from Iowa. Not only did we get a small glimpse into the make-up of a champion we more importantly learned that Terry is even a bigger person than he is a wrestler.

It was refreshing, and surprising at times, to find Terry even more passionate about his commitment to our youth than he is to the sport that has consumed most of his life. After spending considerable time demonstrating the technique and unyielding desire that brought him to the top of his sport he shared personal life experiences that made immediate impact to all who listened. We learned that it is far more important for Terry to be involved in today’s youth where he can help guide them in making better choices.

Terry left his wife and children behind at home to fulfill a commitment he made prior to the terrorist attack in New York. Despite his apathy for flying Terry apprehensively boarded a plane for the East Coast to complete 5-state whirlwind tour that left him drained at times. Once on the mat all of that went away. Terry unselfishly shared himself with each and every participant and for that we will be forever grateful.
