Sunday November 29, 2009 3:00 pm to approximately 6:00 pm

USA Wrestling- CT will be offering a USWOA Certification course on Sunday November 29, 2009 at Wesleyan University, Freeman Athletic Center 161 Cross Street, Middletown, CT. 06459-0265 wrestling room, registration will begin at 2:45 pm, the course will start at 3:00 pm and will include an exam at approximately 5:00 pm, which will take about 45 minutes. There is a $35.00 cost associated with this course, if you take the exam, and there is not fee to just watch.

BACK GROUND CHECK REQUIRED: If you are over 18 as of December 31, 2009, you must register on line for your membership and back ground check process at http://www.themat.com/membership/. The cost for this is $17.00 and is good for two years. The course fee for all Officials is $35.00, if you take the exam, and there is no fee to just watch.

This Certification Clinic is designed to 1) certify USWOA Officials to objectively officiate USA Wrestling CT Youth Tournaments 2) increase coaches and athletes knowledge of the current High School rules and practices. Successful completion of the USWOA-CT Course allows participants to officiate at state, regional, and national USA Wrestling events.

To achieve certification prospects must attend a USA wrestling sanctioned USWOA Clinic, successfully pass an on-site examination (the rule book is not allowed to be used during this EXAM), legibly complete the USWOA application and successfully demonstrate the skills conducive of a wrestling official. The exam will consist of fifty questions. Participants must receive an 80% or better grade on the test to be certified as a USWOA Official.

This clinic will be conducted by, USAW-CT Officials Director. Upon successful completion of the course and passing of the exam, the Officials director will register the participant on the national web site.
If the participant is over 18 as of December 31, 2009, USAWCT will submit your application and pay your 2009-2010 annual dues to USAWOA. However, you will be required to do a back ground check on the National web site www.themat.com , which is good for two years. If you took the course last year and did your back ground check, you only have to complete the officials application, pay the dues and pass the exam with a grade of 80% or better.

Officials will be compensated at such events in the sum of $15.00 per hour, YOU MUST THEN SELECT THE TOURNAMENTS YOU WANT BY APPLYING ON OUR WEB SITE , so that you can be assigned to tournaments, Official director’s e-mail markcammisa@comcast.net .

Finally, you will be required to send an e-mail to Mark Cammisa at markcammisa@comcast.net to insure that you get your e-mail address registered with USAWCT. It is your responsibility to inform USAWCT as to any changes to your e-mail address, failure to comply with these rule shall result in your not being assigned. When you are informed that you have passed the exam, you will be required to select the tournaments that you want to officiate weeks prior to the events. You will be informed by a posting on the usawct.org web site as to which tournaments you are assigned. You will be required to sign onto the web site and accept or decline the assignment, two weeks prior to the event, if you do not confirm your assignment prior to the deadline, you will forfeit that assignment.

Failure to show up for an assignment that you have accepted, will result in you being suspended from any further assignments for the remaining of the season. In the event, you can not make the assignment you must contact Mark Cammisa on his cell phone 203 554-1270, leave a message if Mark does not answer and leave a phone number so that Mark can return a call to you confirming that he got your message.
