USA Wrestling Connecticut
Girl's & Women's Wrestling March & April 2006
The following is a listing of information for girls, women and their families that are interested in participating in the sport of wrestling. Contact information is provided for a number of clubs that have explicitly offered wrestling training opportunities for girls and women. Following that some up coming women's wrestling events are listed.
We are encouraging all girls to train regularly at the most convenient location for them. We do want to arrange to have as many girls as possible meet at a common training location on a regular basis to meet other girls that are wrestling and to help build a CT team for some of the bigger events that are coming up. If you are interested in going to the USGWA Nationals, the largest girl's / women's wrestling event in the USA, please let me know. We would like to help generate a Connecticut 'presence' at the event if we can.
I encourage all of you to make and effort to meet each other, to train together and to go to and compete in as many of the women's wrestling events as you can. If you have received this, you have already demonstrated an interest in the sport of wrestling. The opportunities for young women to compete in wrestling are greater now than they have ever been and are continuing to grow. Those of you that choose to participate will find that you are noticed and have great opportunities to receive scholarships to colleges and universities. It is also realistic to expect, with hard work and dedication, to achieve a national standing and compete for a position on the US World and Olympic teams.
If you have any questions or would like additional information, please contact me. I will be contacting you again in the near future about additional wrestling opportunities.
